Karina’s passion for fitness began after her graduation from Arizona State University in 2010. Like many students, she spent her college years inactive and consumed too much fast food – an unhealthy lifestyle that took a toll on her physical health. That changed after graduating into the real world, where she put her Kinesiology degree to good use by creating a training program for herself and getting serious about her nutrition, leading to a near 60lb weight loss.
Karina continued to leverage her passion for fitness by pursuing a career in personal training and nutrition planning. Since embarking on this career in 2011, Karina has become an American College of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer, and has coached hundreds of clients to reach their personal fitness and nutrition goals. In 2013, Karina competed in the Bodybuilding.com Spokesmodel competition, earning herself a sponsorship with Bodybuilding.com, and later appearing in fitness ads and features in both Muscle and Fitness Hers and STRONG Fitness Magazine.
Over the course of her career as a spokesmodel and personal trainer, Karina has discovered a passion for the sport of powerlifting. She found that a disciplined focus on strength not only made her physically stronger, but also mentally stronger, more capable, and confidently empowered to tackle life’s challenges. It is in this theme that she coaches each of her clients.
In late 2014, Karina began powerlifting competitively, qualifying for USA Powerlifting Nationals in her very first meet. She has since received her USA Powerlifting Club Coach Certification, coached several clients to top three finishes at their meets, and in 2016 began coaching a series of powerlifting seminars across the country.
Through her coaching at Knox Strength and Performance, Karina aspires to pass along her knowledge and experience to better her clients as athletes as well as individuals, so that they too can become the very best versions of themselves.
